Mystified by receiving a number of speeding tickets for times and dates when his car was quietly parked on the street outside his house, Mr Jeff Buck, 55, of Watnall Road Nottingham demanded to see photographic proof.

Embarrassingly for the city’s police force, what this revealed was that a local speed camera had been clocking the number plate of Buck’s stationary roadside Zafira when other vehicles sped past.

“Staff are being given guidance on the importance of verifying images properly,” a Notts Police spokestress told the local paper.

“I am amused but also angry,” commented a sweet and sour Mr Buck.
