The most up to date of the 10 films selected by Bankstone’s charity fundraising monkey-bikers as pretexts for visiting various regional landmark locations on their tour of Yorkshire is 2009’s The Damned United.

The hierarchy at LUFC have generously given permission for the Monkey Moviestars bikers to complete a lap around the outside of the hallowed turf where Bremner once trod. Elland Road is the final stop on the Monkey Moviestars itinerary and this should certainly end the day on a high.

The film in question‚ covering Brian Clough’s ill-fated 44-day tenure as manager at Leeds in 1974 has not been entirely to the taste of many Leeds fans‚ siding too much, it seems, with Clough’s side of the arguments that led to his swift exit.

The bad luck that saw Leeds slip from the first to the third tier of UK football, is not entirely ended yet, it seems. There was fresh heartbreak at the famous ground last night as a 73rd minute equaliser meant losing out to Millwall in the second leg of the League One play-offs. But better days surely lie ahead for such an illustrious club.
