When imperious Cumbrian technology mastermind Mark Robinson was involved in a minor RTA (Random Traffic Anomaly) recently, it led to a bit of a brainwave.

Robbo knew the RTA wasn’t his fault. The other driver knew it wasn’t Robbo’s fault. But the insurance claim ended up taking “far too long” to resolve.

Fast forward to the future – by imperious decree!

Why on earth had a simple prang claim ended up dragging on for so long? To mastermind Mark, the answer was obvious: archaic technology!

Determined that the ordinary driver on the street shouldn’t have to suffer the same delays and indignity as he had, Robbo set his minions at Imperious Technologies to work fashioning an app that would capture users’ RTA data every time their car bumped into something.

A jolt, but not a nasty jolt!

The new free Jolt app, “technology experts” Imperious claim loftily, will mean that ‘honest drivers’ can at last “benefit from lower insurance costs, whilst allowing insurers to target fraudulent claims.”

Simply download and install the Imperious Jolt app on any smartphone (ideally your own), enter your unique motor insurance policy number, slap it in a special windscreen mount, and Bob’s your uncle: every time you have an accident your insurer will receive all the data and video evidence they need to see exactly how you caused it (or not, hopefully).

Part platform, part proposition

Robbo, described in the Imperious press release as “the mastermind behind the Jolt technology”, proclaims that: What we’ve developed is a platform that harnesses the power of an individual Smartphone. I believe what we’ve created is a proposition that will reduce insurance fraud by an order of magnitude whilst speeding up claims and reduce driver frustration.”

The grammar may be shaky, but you can kind of see what he means, and who’s to say it isn’t something more than just a lot of self-deluding old codswallop!
