August 6, 2009 claims customer claims records at Sussex insurance broker Jeffrey Flanders were “destroyed by lightening.” Presumably they simply faded away.

Details remain somewhat obscure at the time of going to press, but the FSA has warned the broker’s customers to check their insurance coverage after one tried to claim only to discover none had been placed.

The regulator suggested it might be best to contact insurers directly as the Flanders phone is out of action.

Jeffrey Flanders (Consulting) Ltd’s offices at Old Barn, Loxwood, Billingshurst, West Sussex were reportedly damaged last year by an electrical storm – which may perhaps somehow have been the cause of the lightening.
