Bankstone’s Legal Manager Jon Shaw came within 528 votes of clinching election as a member of the Calderdale Metropolitan Council elections on 1 May. Despite being edged out in the vote, Jon’s campaign was seen as a step forward for the Conservatives, who saw an 11.5% swing in their favour in Calderdale, and adjudged that Jon’s candidacy had helped ‘reinvigorate’ the party’s presence in the Illingworth & Mixenden ward. For the present Jon will be concentrating on reinvigorating our legal team; but you can’t keep a good man down for long. We wish Jon every success with his political ambitions when he next returns to the fray.
