You can’t beat a bit of gratuitous nudity. Cinema goers back in 2003 must have been amazed to see thespian institution Helen Mirren disrobe, along with the brazen likes of Julie Walters and Celia Imrie, in hilarious comedy caper Calendar Girls.
Bankstone’s crack fundraising team Monkey Moviestars are threatening to get natural out on Ilkley Moor this summer while recreating a scene from this much-loved celluloid fictionalisation of a previous Yorkshire-based charity initiative ‚ albeit obviously a much more successful one.
The plot ‚ in case you’ve been living in a cave for the past decade ‚ involves a bunch of WI-type middle-aged English roses getting their collective kit off to raise money for the hospital where one of their husbands recently died of leukaemia. The film was shot in many Yorkshire locations including Buckden, Burnsall, Coniston, Kettlewell, Linton, Malham, Settle, Skipton - and, yes, Ilkley.
